Design Challenge:
Design a VR Exercise Game to help bedridden patients, in different types of hospital care, exercise their lower body while playing thus reducing the monotones of their rehabilitation and disconnecting them from the hospital setting.
Given the nature of VR, leg exercises propose a new challenge where buttons on the controllers cannot be used and the controllers must be attached to some part of the leg. For this exercise some assumptions were taken:
Controller straps for the legs will be taken care of by the hospital
The patients will assume the correct position while bed ridden for the exercise.
Below you can find the script of how the controllers work:
Note to readers, I am not a 3D Artist I tried my best to make them look realistic but they were eventually overhauled by SyncVR's inhouse 3D artist.
Design Challenge:
Will a tutorial animation of a humanoid figure correctly doing the exercise be enough to teach every type of player(patient) how to correctly exercise, while playing our SyncVR Fit physiotherapy VR games?
So as a professional I decided to create a reusable system of Tutorials for everygame in SyncVR Fit. The system was mantainable, extensible but most importantly reusable. The only thing needed to do was to create the different Tutorial animations shown below:
